EP 8 - March Recap and April Sneak Peek

Transcript

[00:00:19] Welcome back. I want to start by recapping what happened on the podcast in episode six. I spoke with Dr. Marine about how women can take care of their own health while also caring for a child with a life threatening illness. She is a mother to a type 1 diabetic child who also had cancer as a baby.

[00:00:37] I asked her which was harder and she made the statement that going through cancer with a baby was actually easier than managing her child's diabetes. Go listen for why, but it was actually a profound statement on the impact of managing a chronic health issue, especially for a child. Her focus on mindset makes this podcast episode a fantastic episode for anyone who's going through health challenges or not, she recently wrote a book and she talks about how she had a friend who's a male and doesn't have kids and he read her book and said, wow, this really had a profound impact on his life.

[00:01:13] So this podcast and what she talks about in her book is really valuable for anyone. In Episode 7, we discussed understanding your diagnosis for proactive care with Amy. So often, we're getting a diagnosis and then not knowing what to do when we leave the doctor's office.

[00:01:32] Amy shares why it's so important that we get educated on our diagnosis so that we can manage it well, and shares tips on how to do this. You must listen if you have a diagnosis that you're managing.

[00:01:43] In April, we're going to be hearing from Rachel Brown about how she supports women, particularly moms who are overwhelmed with research.

[00:01:50] She is a midwife, R. Ed., and therapist who has attended over 500 births. So she's bringing a wealth of information to the women she serves to empower them in their birth choices. We also discussed the link between abuse, trauma, and its impact on women who are overachievers. This is a topic dear to my heart, and I'm so excited to get into it because trauma actually Absolutely impacts women's health in so many ways.

[00:02:15] We'll also be hearing from Amanda on her experience with being type A, the desire for control, the clean eating obsession, and the development of orthorexia, a clean eating disorder. We talk about a lot more in the podcast, so it's a great listen. I loved how she's been behind the camera, in front of the camera so that's really cool because we kind of have that in common. It's an incredibly powerful and necessary interview for anyone who cares about their own health and the health and wellness space. With the rise of clean eating and being conscious about our health, especially if you have a diagnosis that you're trying to manage, it's so important that we address what can happen to us mentally as we're trying to make these changes.

[00:03:06] I'm so excited about both of these interviews. I'm so excited for both of these interviews to be released because they're both incredibly deep episodes. My next episode that I'm releasing is going to be talking about my personal health. A little update since the last one. It's going to be offering a lot of tips, mostly books and resources that I have been using.

[00:03:29] So stay tuned for next week, give the podcast a follow so you can get notified and hear about that because I have some great tips coming up next week. Thank you for your time listening, your interest in women's health and advocating for yourself. If you like this podcast, please share with friends and family.
